Day 6: The Last Battle
Take your stand with the crucified messiah and the Kingdom of God
Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”
Pilate said, “So you are a king?”
Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.”
The book of Revelation is often misread as a road map of coming events. It is better to read John's vision has a description of the battle between good and evil taking place right now.
Fallen man forever worships the beast. He has a great city that rules by might and enslaves with sensuality: Babylon, Rome, New York. His is the spirit of the harlot and the false prophet.
There are those who do not stain their robes, who reject the deception. Their leader is not a beast, but the Lamb that was slain.
The end of Babylon is clear:
Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen! (Revelation 18:2)
So is the warning:
Come away from her, my people. Do not take part in her sins. (Revelation 18:4)
The temptation to prefer force over love, deception over truth, sensuality over purity, is always with us. The wine of Babylon is strong, its allure very sweet.
Don’t fall for it! Side with the Lamb that was slain. Take up your cross and follow the Lamb that was slain. It’s the way of Jesus: the way of life, the way of joy, the way of God.
