My Marshmallow Dream Gives Us All Hope

Good morning my friend, and welcome to a new week!

I want to start this week off with a blast of hope. Yesterday, Julie and I went on a hike. We were tired. We had been working all day and just needed to get outside.

So I found this trail on a map. And we thought it would be pretty fun, but it blew us away, as so often happens with nature. You can't over expect with God. He always gives you more than you expect.

So as we were headed out, the first thing we did was run into a porcupine. And then we got to the trailhead and instead of it being this jammed parking lot, it was just the end of a road, and no one was there but us. We walked out into this field and there was a red bench that overlooking the valley. We played around on this bench and someone had painted “escape the ordinary” on it It was just really fun.

So we headed down a dark trail and through the woods and immediately we were thrust into these just unbelievably gorgeous fields, with flowers everywhere.

Then we found these hay bales that were bundled up in plastic and looked like giant marshmallows. S we just we laughed and giggled and climbed around on them and took pictures of ourselves playing in the marshmallows for longer than I'd like to admit.

There were flowers all over the place, different flowers than I'm used to on the west coast. We bumped into people who were all extremely nice, and met a crazy dog. We finally got down to the lake and then hiked back up to the car.

Anyway, it was WAY more than we ever dreamed it would be.

Why am I telling you this? Because God is so much better than we ask or think or imagine!

There’s SO MUCH hope!  If a simple walk in the woods can blow us away like that,  imagine what the coming age will be like. Imagine the future that God has for us.

I know that sometimes the hard things we face in life can make us imagine a dark ugly future and a stingy, yucky God. But God is not like that.

Take a page from my marshmallow dream this week and dare to believe that God is good and that the future will far exceed your expectations.

And now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
