I actually went to the gym for an hour this morning before listening to today’s Anchorpoint. So why bother? It is a pretty sure thing that I am going to die, but I can have a fuller and better quality of life on the way out. There are so many things in life that are beyond my control, but choosing to take care of myself is within my control to a point. I don’t think exercise will become an idol in my life as I have other things I would rather do, but exercising makes doing some of those other things possible and easier. Also, if I am walking, it becomes a prayer time. If I am at the gym it becomes a God-focus through music. And there have been God-appointments with other people as I have been exercising. It’s not always just about me.

Right on, Julie. The idea that this life and the world to come are totally disconnected created real apathy in my life. Now I see my life in this world as continuing on into the next organically. So everything matters!
