Hope is focused on the future. But when one is eighty years old, one knows the future won’t last very long. I am puzzled that death bed conversions are so rare. Seems like dying folks would want to get on board the salvation express. But among my friends and family who have died, they left this world with the same attitude toward God that they lived their lives with. Reaching young people with the good news of god’s love is so critical! Old folks are set in their ways!

I heard someone say once, “the beliefs you live with are the beliefs you die with.” I agree. It’s a really good observation. Dying rarely changes anything. I do believe in the ability to change, both in this age and the age to come, no matter how young or old we are. That’s why there’s hope!
